Yes - California gets Tsunamis, though infrequently. How do you prepare and what would you do?
Dan Wall, City of Ventura Emergency Manager, will:
- Discuss the impact a tsunami had to Ventura in Jan 2022 (there have been at least nine since 1812 causing local damage).
- Present exerts from the “After Action Report” outlining damage and several recommended solutions going forward.
- Take-aways include:
• How do you assess the risk of a tsunami?
• Who will be in charge?
• How do you assess damage?
• And solutions going forward
Speaker:
Daniel Wall is the Emergency Services Manager with the City of Ventura, responsible for
facilitating all Emergency Management programs, including training Ventura’s staff to handle all types of emergencies. He recently revised the city’s Emergency Operations Plan and staff training programs. Dan tasks include grant management, community collaboration, and community involvement. Dan recently contributed to “Morbidity and Mortality Post Catastrophic Disaster" for the National Academies of Science. Dan has a Master's Degree in Public Policy and Administration from California Lutheran University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Art from California State University, Bakersfield.
