Description of Workshop:

Female Fierfighter.jpgIn the high-stakes world of emergency management, clarity isn’t just a luxury—it’s a life-saving asset. This interactive 3-hour workshop translates the core principles of Calm in Command: Leading with Intention & Resilience into a tactical toolkit for leaders. Moving beyond theory, we will practice specific, "micro-mindfulness" strategies designed to be deployed during active incidents and recovery phases from each of the sections: Commanding with Presence, Commanding Confidently, Commanding Collaboratively, and Commanding Resiliently. Participants will learn to regulate their stress response, sharpen their situational awareness, and foster psychological safety within their teams when the pressure is highest.

Participant Outcomes:

By the end of this session, emergency managers will be able to:

  1. Regulate Stress Under Pressure: Apply immediate self-management techniques to maintain cognitive function and decisive leadership during critical incidents.
  2. Enhance Tactical Communication: Utilize active listening and non-violent communication protocols to reduce friction and improve information flow across agencies.
  3. Drive Collaborative Resilience: Implement structured debriefs and appreciation loops that sustain team energy and prevent burnout during long-term activations.
