Subject:
Emergency management in a healthcare environment has its own unique challenges, especially in the time of COVID-19. UCLA Health’s Emergency Management Program uses an “all hazards” approach to ensure effective mitigation, preparation, response, and recovery to disasters and emergencies that affect the hospital environment of care. With this approach, UCLA Health was able to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic while continuing to progress on other emergency preparedness initiatives and maintaining readiness for other disasters.
Presenter: Aubrey Sendra (Emergency Management Specialist at UCLA Health)
After a long career in event management, Aubrey decided to pursue her lifelong interest in emergency preparedness and apply her planning background to helping organizations prepare for disasters. In her role at UCLA Health, she collaborates with stakeholders at all levels of the health system to en- sure that the organization can respond effectively to both internal and external hazards, with a focus on disaster communications. She is especially passionate about speaking with staff, family, friends, and community members about the importance of personal preparedness, and can usually be found rollerskating around Los Angeles.
